My family and I just got back from the Sunshine State to San Francisco late last night. It was a whirlwind trip where I saw 3 of my great aunts, my dad who is working in Florida this month and my uncle who drove from Pennsylvania. The trip was mostly for my 87 year old grandma to see her sisters and her excitement made it worthwhile.

We spent the majority of our time in an area called “The Villages” where most residents are 55+. We quickly discovered that they certainly know how to have a good time. They have live entertainment in a town square every night where we were delighted to watch older ladies and gentlemen dance.

This was my first time in Florida so I was determined to try the local cuisine. During my time there I sampled fried green tomatoes, gator and a Cuban sandwich all of which were tasty. I managed to squeeze in one day at the pool while we were in Orlando and enjoyed the 70 degree weather.  I hope to be able to visit more of Florida in the future!
